This exceptionally rare snuff box is silver gilt and realistically modelled as an eagle head, with textured surface to simulate the feathers of the eagle and eyes, unusually inset with faceted rubies. This piece is of an exceptional weight and is marked on the interior of the cover (The interior also displays very fine deep gilding. Eagles head snuff boxes are exceptionally scarce, as very few were made, especially to this exceptional quality. 1760-1830 (possibly by the rare box makers Tye and Kilner).
